What to Expect from a Therapy Dog Visit
A simple guide to what happens from your first enquiry to Kate and Murphy arriving at your door.

1. Start with a conversation
You do not need to know exactly what kind of visit to book. Tell Kate who Murphy would be visiting, the setting and what you are hoping for. She will ask only for the information needed to understand suitability and provide a quote.
Before the visit
We discuss relevant preferences, mobility or communication needs, allergies, fear of dogs and any facility requirements. A 50% deposit confirms the agreed booking.
When Kate & Murphy arrive
Murphy has time to stretch and toilet after travelling. Kate remains responsible for him throughout the visit and brings any treats used during the session.
During the visit
There is no fixed script. The interaction follows the person or group: perhaps a pat, conversation, reminiscence, an activity, a treat or simply enjoying Murphy nearby.
Choice matters — for everyone
Participation is voluntary. A person can engage gradually, observe from a distance or decide they have had enough. Kate also monitors Murphy's communication and wellbeing, adapting or ending an interaction when he needs space.
A good Golden Bond visit works for the person and for Murphy.
What happens afterwards?
The remaining balance is generally invoiced after the visit and is due within seven days. If you would like Kate and Murphy to return, one-off or recurring options can be discussed.
Facilities, schools and organisations considering an ongoing arrangement can also ask about an introductory visit. Introductory visits are not offered for individual or private-home bookings.
Current visit availability is Tuesday to Friday, including evenings, and Saturdays.
